Is it the just the fluid dampening the vibrations or is there a difference in the mechanical connections/interfaces in the rack?

Here are the actual specs for PS and manual rack. Disregard the specs that have been posted elsewhere in this thread.

manual
----------
steering wheel ratio 22.39:1
turns lock to lock 3.84-4.02

power
-----------
steering wheel ratio LHD 18.85:1/RHD 18.96:1
turns lock to lock LHD 3.24/RHD 3.26

Fluid damps vibration. Also seemed to me when the Scirocco blew its hose that the system itself must act like a shock absorber in a way as there seemed to be more kick in the steering with the fluid leaked out. That said, I can't say I have noticed too much *kickback* with the manual rack installed in my 924S.
