Which box has the central locking system in it on a '91?

When I get up into the passenger footwell to try and find which box has the central locking system I find a bunch of stuff up there. I am guessing that the bright orange box is the DME unit, but I haven't been able to find any diagrams that would tell me which is which for later models.

I am attempting to get up there to jump the pins to disable the alarm as my car has had a tendency for the alarm to go off randomly for no apparent reason and it is really starting to become a pain.

All help greatly appreciated.

The central locking brain is a black box mounted on the bottom of the steering column on the driver side. Slide the seat back, lay your back on the floor, and look up. It's about 2inches wide and 6 inches long.

I was under the impression that this was not the case on the later models, am I mistaken?

How late are we talking about? My car is an 89, and it's clamped under the steering column.

Mine is a 91, and it was my impression that the change had come after the alarm with the separate keyhole on the quarter panel. I am not certain, but that was my impression. I got under the drivers footwell and did not see the central locking system there.

I may be blind, but I could have sworn that someone had told me that it was moved to passenger footwell at some point.

The 89s do not have the alarm with the key in the quarter panel as well.
We have the blue alarm brain behind the DME.
I think you are confusing yourself with the alarm itself. The alarm brain is what was moved behind the passenger side footwall.
Here are a couple pictures of the CLM, under the steering column.

Rihaa, Cyrus951 is incorrect as to the location of the central locking mechanism for a 1991 S2. The 1991 S2 has the same CLM and alarm system as the 968 and therefore will require a wiring diagram from the 968 to properly "jumper" the alarm system or to properly install a keyless entry/after-market alarm. Ask one of the guys on 968.net for an alarm brain/clm wiring diagram from the service manual. That will show you what you need.

The bright orange box is the airbag unit.

Can someone upload a picture of the CLM for a 91S2/968 for my records?

So, where is the 1991 central locking control unit located. Anyone?
