Default Anyone a motor mount expert?

So I'm replacing the motor mounts on my '86 951 this weekend...expecting a bolt out/bolt in job. Turns out the mounts in there aren't the proper mounts, but they have two porsche part numbers on them and look like the old style n/a mounts. The numbers are 951.375.042.01 and 944.375.042.0 and the mounts are green...I thought all of the 924/944/968 mounts were black. I can't find those part numbers anywhere. Is it possible that my '86 was built early enough in '85 that it got the old mounts? Did a PO just put the wrong ones on?

Not a big deal, but now my car's laid up in the garage until the new 38mm bolts come in, so I need something to do. Any ideas?

There are turbo mounts and non-turbo mounts.

You should get the turbo mounts, part number beginning with 951.

Looks like your 951 had one of each. Perhaps a previous owner only had the bad mount replaced in the cars history?

Sorry, I didn't explain myself fully. I already bought new OEM turbo mounts, (# 951.375.042.04) and expected that the ones I was replacing were the same type. However they are green and appear to be the n/a style. So now I have to order new bolts because the existing ones don't fit my new turbo mounts. Do I have some kind of special hybrid 944/951 mount that Porsche will buy from me for lots of money and put in a museum? (best case scenario)

Boy, I'm not good at explaining myself...what I meant was that the numbers 951.375.042.01 and 944.375.042.0 are on both of the mounts I took out (which are identical to one another). So each old mount has the same two numbers (951. and 944.) printed on it. Hope that made sense...thanks for the help so far.

Skippy,

Are you still at Dickinson? Drop me a line, I'm right down the road form there.

What's the difference between the two anyway? Any advantage to converting to "turbo" mounts? Will they even bolt in properly to an earlier car? Oddly, I think mine in the '85(1) are black.

When installing a 968 engine in my '83 944, I found one of the 968's motor mounts to be bad. I just replaced it with my 944 NA mount. It looks a little different, but I dont see much of a difference at all. Hey, its better than a bad motor mount
