The owner didn't know how to drive a manual, smoked the clutch on the way home and never touched it again! Lol..
I wonder if a perfect condition but neglected car needs just as much work as all the rough condition neglected cars out there.

Wow. What can you really do with this car? If you drive it the value will drop precipitously. Stick it in a museum I guess. Think it may go for about $50k?

I wondered the same thing. I'm no museum curator, I wouldn't want to be the guy to splatter bugs all over the windshield of a brand new perfect old car. So I guess I wouldn't want anything to do with it.

People ask me very often what does sin look like.... I think I'm going to refer them to this thread in the future :-)

I completely understand that there is a class and crowd that does nothing but buy cars and hide them away in hopes for a future profits, but I'm of the opinion that cars deserve need and if you want to anthropomorphize even say want to be driven. I agree with the comments above that this car should remain a museum piece.

​​​ I just picked up a 1989 S2 with 44,000 mi on it. Much loved and very lightly used, the interior is perfect, and the exterior is a 9.5 out of 10. The original owner never drove it in the rain and is spotless in and out.

That said, every seal every rubber line every consumable item has needed to be replaced. I got the car for a very very reasonable price and I'm committed to bring it back to factory OEM condition, but as soon as it's done I will drive the car.

This is not that unusual. There was a very low mileage big block Chevelle at Barrett Jackson a few years ago. Young guy bought it and got a few speeding tickets. Couldn't insure it, into storage it went. Then life got in the way.

I came close to buying a 944 a month before this car was purchased.

In November 1984 I shopped the 944, RX-7 GSL-SE and 300ZX. The GSL was the same price to insure as a Celica. The GSL-SE, 300ZX and 944 were a bit more double to insure whether in my name or my mother's name. So I ended up with a 1985 custom silver metallic/burgundy leather RX-7 GSL.

yup museum piece cannot be driven or the value will drop like an anchor. GREAT to have for display on ones car collection and talk about while having a cocktail party

There is money out there for low mile 944s. This one, being NA, won't do quite as well as the turbo record holder, but might do better than many think. There are people building Porsche collections, and the 944 has been rediscovered.

I don't understand the anger about a museum piece. Instead of buying that car should I renovate the kitchen? I will use the kitchen every day, but only look at the "museum piece." Should I put windows in the house because they may keep me warmer instead of buying that sculpture for the wall unit that will be seen when I have a cocktail party? Come to think of it, I should sell my Porsches and buy a station wagon. I only get to the track a few days a year, but I haul groceries and toilet paper on a regular basis. Why am I cramming it into a small car?

If it sells for $50,000 many here will wail and whine. It cost about $25,000 in 1984 and I was making 1/10th what I am making today. At $50,000 for a daily driver it will cost me about 1/5 of what it would have cost me 40 years ago relative to my annual income. If I do buy it for $50,000 it will probably depreciate at the same rate as the station wagon i mentioned above, or any new car mentioned above

This 44 mile 944 just sold for a cool $105k! I'm quite sure that's a record for a 944 base model.

25K invested in the DJIA in Feb 1985 would be worth three-quarters of a million today, without having to store the car. Of course, who can place a value on watching the car slowly deteriorate in your garage over 39 years.
