Default Windshield; recessed to flush?

Does anybody know if it is possible to put a windshield from a late 944/968 into a 924/early 944? I've asked this once or twice before but never with a satisfactory answer. I know that the spacers are mounted to the late glass, but will it drop in?
TIA Chris

Somebody over on http://www.924board.org/ was working on this project. It sounds very do-able.

Seems like the late version would be too long. When you bring it out flush with the body, it has to have the extra lenght versus the early one. I suppose a late one could be fitted to a early car with the spacers and the other parts.

Very timely. I too have been interested in knowing this. I'm about ready to get a new windshield on my race car and the late glass will be more slick in the wind.

You need the plastic spacers, the extended support blocks, the rubber trim and the wiper arms with the greater offset (bend). Both windshields are reported to be the same over all size and shape.

The spacers are different for the later cars with the airbags. Use the earlier spacers.

Why would you want to do this anyway? The earlier windshields are far cheaper as they don't have the integral antenna wire.

To reduce wind-noise at 220 MPH?

IMO it looks cleaner without that black or shiny aluminum trim piece around the window. Good luck with the changeover.
