Title says it all. I think the 924 is a handsome car, but those round reflectors look like something an old man bought at Ace Hardware and slapped on with doublesided tape. Is there a retrofit kit for something more... stylish?

Thad, are you actually going to go and buy a 924?

As far as replacing the round side markers, I think you have some body work ahead of you. I had a 931 about 20 years ago and as I recall those buggers sat in a pressed in indent. So you are going to have to fill that out and figure out what to do about the profile of the replacement markers. If you want them flush you have some extra body work ahead for them.

I've got a pair of the current european side repeaters used on many cars that Olli in Finland sent me - you know the ones that are about half way between the front wheel well and the A-Pillar. They are standard clear lenses and you will have to find some bulb sockets for them, they are for 9mm bayonet based bulbs. The European City Light sockets will fit them fine but I only have one spare from a broken left hand lane driving headlight so you would have to fish around in the auto parts store for them. But you can have the lenses if you decide to get a 924 and play around with it.

I think the round lenses give the 924 charm...you can tell it's a 924 from a mile away with those lenses.

A 924 will be a bit slower than Sparky though!

Having a 924S i hate those GIANT round side markers. Just to confirm what IceShark said they are slightly depressed into the body. I plan to delete mine pretty soon, i have plans to ask my body shop their advice and get a price. If its unreasonable i'll just get some bondo and fill them up. Then i'll take some time to source the proper euro side markers. I think there are a few people in the 924 forum who have done this, Manning Maybe?

Good Luck, Keep us up to date with what you decide to do

but.. thinks of all the replacement parts when someone backs into your quarter panel.. also consider resale. Your prospective future buyer will be saying "I have no idea why the PO did this.."

I guess it's me, but I've grown quite accustomed to them. If I want rectangular, I'll buy another 944.. and that's in the works. See it at 944 fest.

"extra special SECRET project, eh!?"

faux 4" side exhausts baby!

or paint them to look like little stop signs that swivel out 90 degrees when you put on the hazards like a school bus.

Lol

I don't know, but I think they give the 924 some character. I disliked them at first, but have grown to like them when I see them.

I guess it's just a case of functionality over looks.

You could get a piece of thin steel or plastic, paint it the color of the car and bolt these in place to fill the holes. With steel you could weld a stud(s) to the back so the face would be clean.

I am going to look at a 924 Turbo tomorrow. Just assessing options. The car is really cheap-- I might make a faux GTR out of it. Have some fun...

And yes, it will be hella slower than Sparky was. Something I'll be considering before I buy. Don't look like many options on improving acceleration except to strip extra weight out either...
