Porsche 968 oil pump sleeve replacement
Hi all, I removed the crank oil seal and oil pump drive sleeve from my uk 1995 968S and found the part quite worn, needs replacement. Getting a part here in the uk was hard, the PET I have here lists part 944 107 161 02 as being needed, the supplier has been able to send 944 107 161 04, both are pictured here. There is a difference in the parts, the splines are longer on my part, guess that’s why the numbers differ. The supplier says 04 is a replacement for 02. I be greatful for any comments on this, any probs using the new type? Steve

Hey thanks for the clarification. Looking at the wear pattern on my old part gears I also see the new part seems to cover the requisite length of engagement. Great to fit it with confidence, not the best part to have to swap out again after the rebuild Steve

Just in case somebody needs illustrations of the first stages of the Porsche 968 oil pump sleeve and timing belt drive pulley reassembly:
.04 oil pump sleeve replaces the older .02 part removed from my 968
Oil pump drive sleeve 944 107 161 04
A new crank oil seal was first fitted to the sleeve after oiling all parts. The sleeve with seal in place was slid in place over the crankshaft and the gear engaged in the oil pump. The oil seal was driven into its housing using a cylindrical oil seal drift. A new o ring was fitted over the crankshaft, then the washer.
