Is the original A/C Compressor worth overhauling?

Hi everyone,
Have read a lot about overhauling/replacing the A/C Compressor. What is the current thinking? I have two cores and am wondering which path to take. Thanks

I would guess by time you got all the parts, special tools, and put in the time, you'd be past the cost of a reman. I recently replaced mine with a reman direct from Denso and it cools wonderfully.

Just replaced mine with a Denso unit. Simple to do and my time and sanity is worth it.

I think the only reason to rebuild the original is if you want a show car that needs to be factory stock

You can't "overhaul, rebuild or remanufacture" at home. The best you can do is replace seals and bearings.
If you want to know if it is worth it and you have spare time on your hands, then strip them apart (keep the parts for each unit segregated).
Inspect the bores, pistons and wobble plate for wear (pistons missing grey coating, cylinders scratched, wobble plate has a groove cut by half bearing),
reed valves (for corrosion or delamination of the plastic coating on the reed backer plate), signs of grey matter in residual compressor oil, cracks in the edges of the case for case seals,
cracks in the mounting ears, delamination of the clutch outer hub, cracks in the clutch coil's epoxy, rough turning bearings, severe corrosion on the shaft where the nose seal seats, etc.
