Ground clearance under oil pan/crossmember
Hi,
Wondering if anyone with a stock-height 944/951/etc could measure the clearance from the ground to the bottom of your engine crossmember/oil pan? Bonus points if you can measure the clearance under the caster block bolts too. |
I'll be underneath the 944 tomorrow so I'll get you those measurements if no one else has by then. (Also, I'm posting this to remind me to do it tomorrow. ;) )

Eyeballing measurements (sorry, there's some wiggle room but I tried to be as precise as I could)...
The oil pan was about 14 cm from the ground, and the caster block bolts were about 15.5 cm. As I look at your post, you were asking about the caster blocks and not the bolts. I don't know why I had the bolts on the brain but, well, it's what it is. When I'm done with my suspension refresh, I can take another measurement although I suppose you could probably use that number to extrapolate (Yay, big word!) it if you needed it sooner. BB. |
Brian, the caster bolts are what I was looking for since they're the low hanging fruit there.
Thank you! I'm considering making an under-chassis brace like Lindsey, Brey Krause, and others sell. It'd probably be about 1cm thick, sandwiched between the caster blocks and the body. Just wanting to see what my new "low point" over potential obstacles would be, I think 14cm or so is about where my new radiator frame will sit too. |
Happy to help out. :)
