Three Wheelin'
1984 - M456 ordered new by me, delivered 7/10/1984.
Seen here with friend and fellow traveler Dave on a week long trip thru the Bighorns and Devil's Tower, with his '10 - GT3.
Guards Red/Grey Beige leather, Weissach built and prepped, track tested, and signed off before shipping stateside by Porsche.
H.D. bars, Sport suspension, shocks, springs, LSD, and 5 speed, it has been a great D.E. and weekend track warrior, now with 70,000 miles.
It has been virtually a 'zero issue' sportscar.
It came with a set of 15 inch ATS Cookie cutters, a set of FUCHS alloys in 7 and 8s, and wears these 8x16 cast alloy road wheels by MSW that I added later, for highway driving

'84 - 944 'Delete Special' ( sunroof, interior bits, non electric mirrors, etc.
An old Driver's Education track car ordered out new by a PCA Instructor. Seats were pulled when new and Recaro race seats installed, o.e. seats put in his garage attic, wrapped and stored, re-installed when car was made 'street legal' once again.
First owner painted it in his shop before selling it to the guy I bought it from in New Mexico. It was numbered as 908.b as the first owner also tracked a 908 which was stickered as 908.a.
It came with 3 sets of wheels: Cookies, 15 inch FUCHS, and these FUCHS slotted 16 inch - 7 and 8s.
Curiously it has a factory installed alarm on an otherwise basic lightweight, 'delete special'

'84 - M456 from Las Vegas, originally bought new by a female in the foothills of Los Angeles, then left to her nephew in her estate.
I paid $1850.00 for this Sport seat, sport suspension, rust free 944 in about 2006. It was non running at 105,000 miles due to a rotor set screw which had fallen out. The previous owner had just put on a new head after a t-belt disaster bent a couple of valves. The car shut off pulling into his garage and he thought it broke again, never looked at the source of the problem, and put it up for sale.
It has a not too great, 20 footer paint finish put on a few years before I bought it. The 944 runs out beautifully, but is coming due for a look at some bushings and suspension work to make it even better. It is the 'go-to' sports car if weather appears chancy and is the one least valuable if it were to become damaged....
I call him "Old Scruffy"
I added the FUCHS off an '88 - 911 Jubilee/Celebration cabriolet in Diamond Blue Metallic, which I found for sale in Panorama magazine. The original 15 inch FUCHS which came on it are a satin polished finish; the blue 16 inch 911 wheels make for an interesting contrast.

Seeing you collection never gets old and I feel that this is only the tip of the iceberg. Did that Garnet Red 908B car come with lightweight fenders and such? That has to bean exceptionally rare 944!!

Thanks for your kind words Dave.
Yes, this is that 944. First owner ordered it with many special features, some of which were 'deletes', and some which were adds. It came with a factory deep rear spoiler and plastic pieces on the front; fender, hood, bumper, and rear bumper. Fogs were deleted. Fuel cap lock, stereo, console, rear hatch roll-up cover, etc. He used it as a Drivers Ed. Instructional car for PCA students and also tracked a real 908. Hence the numbers.
He put on new steel parts from the Porsche parts counter when he made it road legal, then painted it in his shop the original Ruby Red. It has the original grey beige leather seats re-installed when he removed the race seats to sell the car on. I bought it from the fellow in New Mexico who owned it last, but contacted the original owner to obtain all the original lightweight pieces.... we'll see if he eventually sells them to go back with the car ( just to have them as it originally came )
I guess I may be slightly addicted to the brand....

A few more 'temptations' from a couple of the others I haven't posted much about :
'74 - 914- 2.0 liter
and
'88 - 944- Jubilee/Celebration
both low mile, rust free, non winter driven sports cars.
A couple of quick shots, seen here before their annual detailing a few years back
