Well, the brakes need sorted; I got a set of Hawk HP+ to go all the way around. The power steering seems to leak from everywhere so I need to work on that. With luck, that will get me road worthy. I've had enough surprises with this thing so far. I haven't decided what to do with the exhaust yet, I wan't to make sure there aren't any more big ticket surprises before invest too much more in it.

Congrats on the rats!
Thanks for sharing this one! Just reading through this and my brain was completely stumped as well. After years of driving and working on these cars it all sounded Like it should work to me. I agree now with the comments of shooting ether in the afm should have started the car for a few seconds. Now we know why it didnt. I will have to remember this next time I try to start my old 924 that has been sitting in the garage for a few years now. Geesh!

Was trying to jar my memory of something similar to tell one of my famous stories, but nope, never seen this one.

That's what I thought until this just came to mind, guess I am getting old after all. A few years ago my Stihl leaf blower didn't fire up in the Spring in spite of my positive fuel and spark tests and yes I had a wet plug too. Stopped by the dealer and the guy took one look and said " You have couple stink bugs in the muffler". Sure enough there was the abdomen of one of the damn things sticking out of and plugging up the tiny cone shaped exhaust exit. All blacked with muffler goo and unburned fuel from all the cord yanking it wasn't really noticeable (note to self : wear your glasses when troubleshooting) unless you looked really close. Since he was right on it I'm sure it wasn't the first one to come in the shop with that problem. Needless to say I felt the fool then and now. I had to 'fess up after offering my 2 cents worth of wrong advice and failing to "Observe, Remember, Compare". I guess I lose my membership in the "Baker Street Irregulars"
