I believe Jon has retired. Not 100% on this.

A year or two maybe, last email I received.

My understanding ,, like Kevin was that he was retired but I thought web store was still open.

Pretty big chance to take on a $900 cam though.

Your user name...., is this for a 944T or other car...?

So you are looking for .474-.480" lift, and 254deg stated duration Int/Ex specifically or is that flexible...?

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the stock 944T camshaft .470Int/.431Ex @266/258 deg...?

I might have a used Web 274, but to be honest, neither JME nor Web give enough info, i.e, lobe center, crank deg of open/closure to make an informed choice.

I might have another option for you for a new cam, not a weld/regrind.
PM if interested in knowing more.

As of last spring... Jon was still around and active with the Central Coast (Ca) PCA. He was officiating one of their Buttonwillow track events.
Dunno whether he's still in business, but it's pretty tough to sell sh*t when you don't return calls!

some years ago, I did some research on available aftermarket 944 camshafts vs. stock etc.
Attached is the result. Some of the links in the document are meanwhile dead, but the rest could help though. Webcam 274 and S3-14 are pretty similar.

That's some good info to have all in one place.

I had a pair of those unobtanium MM billet cams with the adj center sprocket but I passed them on to someone else and while making a decision, I must have opened the factory 16V manuals 20 times for cam specs.

Ended up with the CatCams 16V hyd pair and very happy.

I was contacting a friend in UK that is a CatCams dealer to query a price and availability for the OP of this thread to give him some options.
He just emailed me back and put all CatCams on huge discount/sale.

For example, the 944T "sport" cam, part #5220105 at Int.492 Ex.456 @ 271 - (4° / 54°) and 262 (48° / -2°), lobe angle 115° is only $429.00 US (converted from pound sterling)
Shipping to USA is (central) is $85 US.

Guys, this is not welded reground cams, brand new steel billet camshafts.

Remember, the 19T S2 cams work for 87-88 944S.

Link to currently covered applications - http://www.catcams.com/engines/engin...anufacturer=19

Julian is very responsive (take into account time differential) and a great guy to deal with all around 10+.

If inquiring, tell him Terry from USA sent you, Balance Motorsport <info@balancemotorsport.co.uk> ATTN : Julian

I included the statement " Remember, the 19T S2 cams work for 87-88 944S." because there is no specific directory for 87-88 944S.
In 16V apps, only categories are a) 944S2 and b) 968, which differ by the amount of sprocket teeth, 19 vs 18.
944S2 cams are the same as 944S in all the performance profiles, they only differ slightly in a stock replacement set, of which 944S specific cam pair is not listed by cat.

Hey Sam, the price is for the 944T I4 8V cam (single) that would include the NA if one of those profiles were suitable.
My intent was to price that specific app for the OP.
Up until now, as discussed in this particular thread, for the 8V SOHC, options are for $850 single camshaft that is a welded and reground core, as opposed to the sale price quoted (nearly 1/2) for a brand new camshaft, not a reground core. I thought this dramatic enough to make mention here for the OP.

There is one sentence that might be misleading that I will edit in a second, and that is that the 16V will be same X 2, which of course is an entirely different cam set than the single 8 lobe 944T/NA type cam.

That said, all CatCams are on sale there, so if you want me to, I can inquire.
Here are the BMW listings, for S54B32, choose from there and I can ask.
