Seized Drive Shaft Coupler

I cant seem to pry the coupler for the drive shaft at the TA / TT on my 1985.5 944. I got it to move back enough to partially show the groove where the bolt goes on the TT side yesterday but since then it hasn't even budged. To give some background, I have both of the coupler bolts completely removed, have been hitting it with pb blaster since friday night, and have been using a crowbar with so much force I actually broke the weld on the square portion of the coupler that holds the bolt on the TT side. I have loosened the two lower bolts connecting the Transaxle to the TT bellhousing and have been angling the trans with a jack to try to line everything up to no avail. Im considering trying to cut the coupler in half but there isnt enough room from the large dust cap hole to maneuver my dremel. Any advice on how I should move forward?

FWIW, I went through the same thing last summer. Took me days of PB Blaster, pry bar, repeat. Keep your pry bar pressed up to the shafts. It will minimize the strain on the remaining welds on the coupler. I’d also snug up the bolts you loosened. If you give anything a chance to sag, and therefore take the shafts out of alignment, you’re likely just making things worse.

I recommend you just keep doing what your doing, and give it a few more tries. Doesn’t cost you anything, and I’m thinking you’ll get it eventually.

Can you move it the other way?
