Default Painting rear bumper end cap, surface prep

Ok, I've got a (guards) red 944, and a black rear bumper cap.

And, after searching the local hardware stores, Amazon hooked me up with the Gloss Sunrise Red.

What kind of surface prep should I do? Scuff it up with 220 sandpaper?

Or steel wool? Or nothing other then cleaning with acetone?

400 wet/dry 3M paper sanding with soapy water.

Multiple light coats, don't be in a hurry with heavy coats.

Good luck with the match.

I doubt that is going to come anywhere near close to matching.. Maybe scour ebay for used in your cars color ?

No affiliation but I've used them in the past. They supply factory colors in a rattle can:

It might not match perfectly, but I suspect it will match a little bit better then what is there.

My local O'reilly's auto paint center will put together a customer paint match spray can for ~$20-$25.
