Very easy. I removed the original panel following the instructions which I am detailing as best as I can remember (I did this years ago).

Remove screws as indicated by the yellow, blue, and green arrows arrows. I think there may be some rubber flaps by the yellow arrows that have to be removed as well. There may have been screws by the pink arrows, too, but I'm not sure.

I had to trim down the metal indicated by the pink arrows to clear the vents. Be sure to paint the bare metal.

I then drilled holes on the new panel to match the mounts for the green arrows.

I put screws back (at the blue arrows) to hold the ends into place. I had to use some washers as spacers since there was a bushing or something that didn't transfer over in my case. I also put in the green arrow screws where I drilled the holes.

The yellow screws weren't reinstalled because I didn't take the time to cut those channels out and it didn't matter.

All told, there are six screws holding it together, indicated by the blue and green arrows.

I hope that helps. :)

Please be careful with this. Most of the cars I've seen with cracked fuel rails (and subsequent fires), cracked oil pickup tubes, broken power steering pump brackets, and excessive header cracks have all been engines with balance shaft deletes.

Rear Euro bumper on my 924s. The front awaits painting.

Hi Van. I read about the problems. So i reinforced the oil pickup, and have no servo pump ;-)

1) Megasquirt conversion

2) Dash refurb from Classic 9

3) Front and rear euro bumpers

4) Elgin camshaft + 5* advance

5) coilovers

All of them preserve the spirit of the 944 but make it better, IMHO.

On my 951... voodoo turbo, MS3Pro, built engine, ???

I am going with replica Fuchs 16x7 and 16x8, with RE71-R tires, and Hawk brake pads.

I feel bad about posting a non performance modification – and, sure, removing the factory A/C, rear seats and wiper was def worth doing – but, honestly, replacing the stereo with this touchscreen Sony thing has been the best mod I've made.

Because the stuff behind the screen is only 1U high, I didn't have to cut or modify anything, and I can restore that part of the dash to original if I ever want to. Apple CarPlay Compatible. "Hey Siri, play Atomic by Blondie" = 10% speed boost ;-)

definitely the aftermarket ECU.

Club Sport steering wheel - I like it so much I hold on to it every time I drive :)

Brey-Krause lower brace.

V2: Do you mind sharing what you went with for the aftermarket ECU? I have an S2 and there just don't seem to be too many options for it, compared to the 8V and Turbo cars. The only one I've found that seems like it would work is the Megasquirt solution, but they don't offer the Plug and Play option any more and it seems like I'd really need to dig into that particular rabbit hole. That's probably on the list for later, as I worry a lot about the old, unreplaceable electronics and want something more future proof.

V2Rocket 02-27-2019 11:19 AM

I have VEMS.
There is a plug-and-play VEMS kit for the S2, send a PM to user "Raceboy" and he'll set you up.

odonnell 02-27-2019 11:42 AM

There's a DIYPNP Megasquirt for the S2. It's a bit deceptive, as it will plug right in... after you solder every last transistor and capacitor onto the motherboard. Not quite an afternoon installation but technically it will plug right into the stock harness and start the car.

For me it's either rebuilding the shifter with thrust bearings or replacing the cigarette lighter with a USB charging port.

Yeah, I re-wired my cigarette port so that it would come on with ignition so I could have add a flush USB adapter that wasn't on all of the time. A hidden, but nice mod to save the battery.

Also did Conti radio install and totally reversible powered sub in the passenger foot well.
