Awesome, congratulations! I know it’s been a long road getting there.

Ebay Turbo kit, engine internals modified, aftermarket ecu, 100% handmade exhaust, rollcage, seat mods, driver cockpit relocate, paint, brakes, balleron a budget headlights, v-mount rad, fuel cap relocate, sunroof delete... is there anything else I'm missing? probably. Its been 2.5 years of hell and it's not over yet!

Vacuum manifold.

External Wastegate vent tube. Will need to plumb controller line to assist in regulation. In my education (since this whole car has been my teacher) I have come to believe something that I never hear people talk about. So mavbe it's wrong, but I don't think so. The wastegate is probably as much to blame for destroying engines that people modify or convert to turbo from NA. Think about it: the turbo spins up by exhaust gases and the job of the internal or external wastegate is to release those exhaust gases at a pre-determined pressure. So for example if you don't want to run more than 10 psi for boost (which is my situation) than I want the exhaust gasses to blow towards the asphalt as I scream down the road at 10 psi intake / boost pressure. The job of the manual or electronic controller is to use air or vacuum (I think vacuum but can't remember) to assist the spring in the waste gate. But here is the *important* and perhaps overlooked aspect: If your wastegate's spring is rated for 25psi then you will build 25 pounds of boost in your intake manifold. And your controller can't reduce the psi, it can only add spring pressure. So this is why I opened up this wastegate & removed the stronger of the 2 springs.

Car wouldn't crank or hold a charge. This one from WalMart fits perfectly.

SEXY 1/2" Plug found in the plumbing section of Canadian Tire store. Used electrical shrink tube to seal it on. No longer sexy but should hold pressure.

Great work! Glad to see Wilson back.

Another killer of NA to turbo conversions is improper tuning. I'm assuming you had it dyno tuned with the new ECU? Detonation and lean AFRs will quickly destroy a boosted engine.

Michael, thanks for your encouragement brother. No, I definitely have not gotten any tuning done. This was merely half ass wiring up the car with whatever mapping came with the ecm… just to see if it would start & run. This was my second attempt to get it running. The first time (months ago) it cranked but didn't fire. My pal thinks I made an error with the injector wiring. Heck even the wideband O2 is not hooked up. But tonight I began to plan and wired up the coolant & oil senders so I can monitor those.

Good news: there was a squealing from the front engine and I was able to verify the oil pressure is high & the alt belt feels a bit loose, so that means I can continue forward.

Nice! Before long you’ll be doing hand brake turns. I have this fantasy of doing a safari-inspired NA 944 like the Keen Project 911s. Have you seen those?

sounds good. 'they say' boost is an addiction.
