On cylinder one, how do you get 205 deg F if you have zero compression?

Anyway, bent valves or whatever, if you are opening up the engine save yourself some money and pull the head yourselves. Having done that this past year, I can say it's really not too bad of a job at all. Super write-ups abound with pictures.

Leave the headers on (after disconnecting from main exhaust)

Number one with zero compression is running hotter @ 205 degrees than #3 with 100 PSI running @150 degrees. That has me scratching my head too.

Did you try a "wet" compression test as well? Sounds like it's time for a blow-down check before pulling the head. Do the head pull and re-install yourself. It's not too bad a job and if you live close to another R-lister or a good buddy mechanic..Shouldn't be too bad as long as you have the WSM and some good experienced help. just sayin..

I appreciate everyone's encouragement. I have a couple of 928s that are getting our attention and the 924S is going on a tow truck to the mechanic this morning.

I absolutely know we COULD get this working with more time but I don't have that kind of dedicated time between now and Werks Reunion/My Son's 16th B-Day.

I'll report back when I get the verdict from the mechanic.

Thank you!

Closing this one out. Bent valves. Valve job and related gaskets. Replaced aftermarket AC Delco fuel injectors with rebuilt bosch units. Also dealt with a fuel tank pressure issue by venting a cheap stant gas cap.

Car is running well!

The car did show well at Werks Reunion and Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Cars & Coffee

Well done, that young man looks rightly proud of that sweet 924.

He absolutely is and should be. His mechanical skills have grown 10x during this process. I trust him to do anything mechanical (within reason ) on this car. As an example, he swapped out the injectors with ZERO guidance/help from me. Not too many 16 year olds running around that can drive a manual and work on a car. I'm OBVIOUSLY proud of him!
