Fuchs on an 88 944?
Would 16 by 6 and 7 Fuchs work on an 88 944?
I have a couple sets from 911's and I just picked up a 944. I know Fuchs came on some years I just can recall which year 944 will take em. thanks |
Generally speaking original 911 16in Fuchs will fit any 944 up to and including 1986 except for the turbo. The offsets are 23.3 however your 88 and all 944’s from 87 on require wheel offsets in the 50’s, so no they will not fit. |

I'm not frowning or calling it "not correct", but I find it incredible that you aren't getting rub on that left rear wheel. Looking at the pic it looks like it would rub under suspension compression.
From my experience the left rear on these cars is always a little closer to the quarter panel lip than the right rear. |

Thanks for all the info. The car has a set of 17 inch Boxster wheels on it. I need to find something with the 50 plus offset that works for me.

FUCHS wheels came on '87 thru '90 944s and 951s as an option, but not the traditional 5 blade ( or petal ) windmills as seen on earlier 944s and 911s.
They used a different offset as noted above by other posters, and came in 7, 8, and 9 x 16 inch sizes. They came in two different appearances, but both were based on the same forged wheel as offered on 928s and 911s originally. They are sometimes referred to as trash can lids or manhole covers, sewer lids, 7 spoke, pie plates, etc. These wheels are super strong and a bit heavy, but the wheel has an ardent following amongst those who respect their position in Porsche's options. The ClubSport 7 spoke with cut out apertures is a brilliant wheel and has a totally different look as optioned on the '88.2 turbo S and the '89 turbo M030. ^^^^^ am quite sure new folks show up here every day and don't know about these wheels. There are a number of folks who are unaware of the two wheel styles of FUCHS which Porsche offered, and just giving those an opportunity to explore other options.
6 by 15 or 16 inch wheels off a 911 is not a good viable option for fitment to any late or series 2 - 944 if striving for a proper look OR fit. There are also considerations to what may rub on the inside of the wheel, as well as what is going on with body clearance issues. Using the charts offered on Clark's Garage, here, 944Online, and many other Porsche forums will provide you with all the ET/ offsets for each model. Agreed on the wheels strength and durability of most every wheel Porsche has offered, but the FUCHS are well regarded worldwide as having the lowest weight and strongest breakage ratio of any wheel ever made. |
Did they make those 928 slotted wheels in 17s?
love em. I am very familiar with the D90s I've owned quite a few 964s several cam with them. |
No on the original production of vintage 17 inch FUCHS in the Sewer lids. The ones on the 928S in image above are 16s.

Also, the D90 is different from the ClubSports in design and composition, as the CS are Forged FUCHS and the D90, tho similar is cast and I believe made by Ronal ? for Porsche. |

ClubSport FUCHS on an '89 - 951 - M030 note the extra lip flare on the rear 16s which are an inch wider than the fronts. These are getting to be a very hard to find and very expensive set to locate. |
