Other maintenance to do while doing a timing belt/water pump change?
About to do the belts and pump - is there anything else I should do while I have the pump and belts off?

Yes, rollers and foes if you don’t know the history of the car. Binding bearings and front of engine seals (foes) cause more belt failures than anything else. |
I did this last year. If warranted or needed:
Thermostat Alternator rebuild/refresh (brushes or vreg, replace or repack bearings (easy)) PS pump rebuild (Rennbay kit, easy) Heater valve - original plastic valves eventually crack in half Variocam chain and nylon pads - requires cam removal but not a huge deal - If doing above, then cam cover gasksts and seals - Maybe the hall sensor if the connector is crumbling to bits - Repair/replace rear half of the Mg timing cover Replace any leaking or soft low-pressure PS lines Sway bar bushings |

Thanks! When you say, "binding bearings," do you mean rollers? I'm not familiar with that part.

I have a few front halves if anyone needs one. It's a very pricey replacement, but if it hasn't already been done you'll end up doing it someday. |
I've always thought that a good "while you're there" thing would be to address the coolant tank if it's in bad shape.
