Other maintenance to do while doing a timing belt/water pump change?
 

About to do the belts and pump - is there anything else I should do while I have the pump and belts off?

Thanks! When you say, "binding bearings," do you mean rollers? I'm not familiar with that part.

I did this last year. If warranted or needed:
Thermostat
Alternator rebuild/refresh (brushes or vreg, replace or repack bearings (easy))
PS pump rebuild (Rennbay kit, easy)
Heater valve - original plastic valves eventually crack in half
Variocam chain and nylon pads - requires cam removal but not a huge deal
- If doing above, then cam cover gasksts and seals
- Maybe the hall sensor if the connector is crumbling to bits
- Repair/replace rear half of the Mg timing cover
Replace any leaking or soft low-pressure PS lines
Sway bar bushings

I've always thought of that part as the back side of the distributor? It's the magnesium part that always delaminates?

I have a few front halves if anyone needs one. It's a very pricey replacement, but if it hasn't already been done you'll end up doing it someday.

I've always thought that a good "while you're there" thing would be to address the coolant tank if it's in bad shape.
