I think mine may stay shut now.
its the new struts putting too much torque on the glass. New struts back there will eventually pop the metal housing off of the glass and leave you with a leaking window at the top. I had to spend the time adjusting those pins for hours and days on my first 924 and putting wd40 and or grease on those pins and eventually bought new pins and tore the old ones out so I could adjust them correctly.

Best thing to do for early 944s is buy some used struts and keep those on. Keep a 3 foot 2x4 in the back for cold Winter months to prop it up.

I remember I was never happier when I got it to the perfect setting where u turn the key with one hand and the hatch popped open with the reverse force of gravity all the way up. Keep your nose out of the way or you will lose it with new struts on. Then 3 years later my glass separated off the metal frame. What a disaster. Now I just leave the used ones on and it still goes up albeit very slowly. Save your hatch and put the old ones back on

I ended up doing the same and going back to the old struts. And yes the pins adjust, you can soak with pb blaster as stated above.

my frame is already tweaked some at the top. PO put tape on it. I don't drive it in bad weather ever. I would like to fix that hatch though. Thanks for that information,
the old ones didn't even hold it up so I had to do something. I tossed the old ones .

One thing worth note. Do not tighten the housings for the latches to tightly. On our 87 we replaced the tail light, while they were closing thigns up my sons tightened the housings on the pasenger side hatch latch. It stopped working properly. I messed with it lubed it, etc etc for a few day, no dice. A small loosening of it and the latch started working properly again.
