DIY Window Sticker
 

So, I'm using some of the resources from other threads to make a replacement window sticker for my car. (current version attached)

What isn't clear to me is if there were such a thing as "dealer options". I seemed to see reference to those in another forum, but I can't tell if that was common or not.

For example, my car has the standard 944 alarm system with the extra key slot behind the driver's door. However, that code isn't on the options sticker on my trunk.

Can I assume that this was an option installed or requested by the dealer, and if so, would it have been on the window sticker?

Usually not seen this way, but could have been put in at the dealership.

More likely though, it may have been part of a package grouping. Do you have a 3 digit code on your white build code sticker by your left rear taillight which begins with an H or an I ?

Such as H56 or I82 ? ( as seen on several of my 944s )

There are 3 types of options; factory, port, and dealer.

The window sticker was generated at the Port so it would reflect the factory and port installed options. Port options would include floor mats and cell phones.

Dealer installed options would appear in various types of supplemental stickers including "dealer mark-up" due to demand.

I have a friend who has an original sport seat car where the sport seats were robbed from the car while at the dealer. The original window sticker has the sport seat line "whited out" and a new total number hand written at the bottom :)

This is similar to what I'd heard before. So, from this, I would guess that the options sticker was made at the factory, the window sticker was produced at the port, and then the dealer can muck with things (add or subtract) after that.

Not sure about that.

ALL of the North American 1992 968s produced from September 1991 to January 1992 have the ZZZ VIN on the chassis and the US emissions. Mid January they switch to the laser based chassis VIN which has the matching NA VIN. This is not a random thing for "some cars". It is a straight production line change.

It is the same with the early 968s. But when they changed they changed. No randomness.

This would be a package grouping.

If you are able to access a library or a bookstore with vintage books, you may be able to view or purchase a vintage Kelly Blue book or yellow dealership used car guide from that era. Salesmen used them on their deals and they were issued monthly with revised value info. I have several I acquired from salesmen rather than thrown away and they DO list H52 in the vehicle description as a valued package which commanded more on resale. They list the options included in combination with more common options, in a package group used by the dealer to order from Porsche. The combined package group sometimes gave a price break on those options if combined together.

The 968 had them too but they were "P" code packages. No price discounting. Just easier to manage multiple individual options. And they are usually related options. For example, P08 is 691 CD2, 490 Hi-Fi sound speakers, and 494 amps.

Porsche Cars of North America Inc. was Porsche's American importer and distributor for cars, parts and approved ZVW numbered Autobahn accessories. They were responsible for our window stickers. For instance they provided the ZVW numbered air compressors, the early ones were sourced from Canada. European cars got a European sourced compressor.

Getting back to this. Just in case anyone cares, here is the window sticker I created as a power point. I just printed it on 11x17 paper and had it laminated. It looks great!

Brake pad wear indicators? I was under the assumption that '86s or older didn't have them. I got this assumption from my buddy's '86 951 which doesn't have the cylindrical parts by the shock towers one per side; my understanding--only recently--is that these pieces on my '88 are for the pad wear sensors.
