Default 2jz Porsche 944

Hello! I just wanted to share my project which is putting a 2jz in a 1987 Porsche 944. So far I have stripped the car down and parting the Porsche parts out such as the motor, 944 S transaxle, torque tube, etc... I am putting a cd009 from a 2008 Nissan 350z with a custom driveshaft and diff with custom axle adapters. I will try to update the progress as it comes together but it will be a long time until it is done but it will be fun! And if you are interested in anything let me know and we can work things out, thanks!

Here is the Autosports Engineering 2jz and cd009 adapter, flywheel, and I am still waiting on the concentric slave cylinder spacer. I still have to get a clutch but you can use any single disc nissan 350z clutch with this flywheel. They make a flywheel for twin discs which you can change later on if needed.

how do you connect the Nissan trans to the Toyota engine?

where are you located and what happened to your original 944S engine..

I'm in north Alabama, and companies make adapter plate and flywheel so you can use the cd009 on a 2jz and they have other options for different transmissions too. The previous owner put a 944 S transaxle in my na 944

i've seen JZ motors in 944 tubs before but am always surprised it clears the front of the low hood.
looking forward to your finished project.

Thanks, I dont think the stock hood will fit but of course I will find out when the motor is mounted in the car but from the measurements Ive made the motor will be too high in the front for the hood. I'll try to update it with pictures and such along the way

From just looking at the photo for the transmission, I predict the shifter may end up too far rearword. Just in case, do you have options for converting the shifter location?

Follow up/prequestion to the OP; Is there a reason you are not going to use the stock transaxle? They can handle quite a bit of power as shown by the number of LS conversions out there.

Yes there are multiple shifter relocators that bring the shifter 6-10 inches forward

I eventually want to do more than 400hp and don't want to spend so much on a transaxle or building a transaxle when the trans I have can handle 800+hp. Even though custom mounts and adapters have to be made in my opinion it is the better option

Looks like an interesting project. Please keep posting.

How is the trans going to fit into the tunnel?
Will you have to enlarge it any to make it fit?

The tunnel will have to be cut and then made around the trans when it's mounted, the cd009 is a bigger trans and even cars such as 240sx's and e36/46's have to beat the trans tunnel in a little bit to make the cd009 fit. And then possibly move the pedals if they are in the way or go with a floor mount wilwood pedal assembly
