Default 1986 944 timing belt/water pump

Hi. So I have searched and can't find this answer. I'm sure it's out there, but I can't find it.
So I have a 1986 944. I also have an 87 951 that is my baby. I did the timing belt and water pump last year, easy. I recently picked up the 86 and she just keeps ****ting on me. New injectors, New rad, chopped out the cat. Now I need a new water pump. So it has the updated version with the guard rail, but doesn't have the spring tensioner but has the mechanical one. So my question is I get the new style water pump (I'm pretty sure), do I get the new style timing belt kit or the old style? My assumption is I get the new one? Thanks big time in advance. I would love to be able to order parts tonight or tomorrow, I've gotten to drive this thing for maybe 2 hours and it hurts my heart to see it sitting there.

Default Clarification

Further clarification on my question, does the tensioner dictate needing old vs new timing belt kit, or does old vs new water pump dictate what timing belt kit I need?

No - the tensioner does not influence the belt kit. Yes - it's the waterpump. Idler pulleys are different.

Default Thanks guys

Thanks for the quick answers, very helpful. I figured as much, but the kits aren't cheap and I wanted to be sure. Thanks again!
Resolved.
