Default Quick parking brake question

I have an 83, early model 944. The pawl of my parking brake lever is all torn up, and the lever itself is warped to the point where it doesn't engage at all. Looks like a new pawl is about $40. But a late model/turbo parking brake lever is only $50-60 in condition. I recall seeing an old thread saying the late model levers bolt right up to the old cars, but havent been able to find that thread. Is it true that the late model levers fit the early cars?

If you are changing the handle perhaps this is of no use but when I found the end worn off the pawl on my 924S I just welded a blob on the end and ground it down to the right shape. Has been working fine for several years.

More of the tooth is snapped off from mine and i dont have a welder either. The lever itself is also really bent and it would be more of a PITA to try to fix it than just getting a new one.

Also does anyone have a part number or name for the right angle coolant fitting the late model cars have coming off the engine block? The arrow is pointing to it in this picture. My car has the early style straight fitting with no bleeder screw. I have found diagrams of the coolant system with the part, but no mention of the name or part number.

Yes, the later handle is a bolt-in replacement. I have one on my '83. You will probably need to adjust the linkage though.

I think this is the part you're asking about. You can save yourself a few shekels with this used one.
