Do you let the girlfriend/wife/s.o. drive the Porsche?
You know, like the Beatles's song says, "Baby you can drive my car."
I let my gf have a try at the 83 manual when it was my only car and she managed to get it up to 3rd gear with some effort in the university parking lot at night.
When I got the S2 she had no interest in trying even though I explained it has power steering.
She's not about to try the 951.

One girlfriend managed to scratch the 928 with a lawnmower in the garage so there was no way she was driving it. The next girlfriend drove the 924S on the last day the plates were legal and ran over a 6 inch chunk of concrete on the highway. She had a mile to get out of the way of the concrete but plowed over it anyway. I keep my cars to myself now.

my Ex was scared of the porsche, she hated it when I drove it....
but while I had the sparco pro-2000s in the car I had a rule, if the girl complained about them being to tight I wasn't alowed to date her.
A Wife or GF with her own porsche would be great, just more cars for me to play with.

I was very hesitant to let her drive the '89 as she's not really good with a clutch and the whole idea of her hitting boost was... to say the least frightening.
She pester'd me until I agree'd and pulled over on the way out to my mom's one Saturday afternoon. As I got out and walked around, she climbed over the hump and started it up and drove off and left me. I walked for over a mile until she decided to come back for me. She pulled up and said "I don't see the big deal about these cars". She later told me that she didn't take it over 25mph. Which would explain why she doesn't see the big deal!!!!
She was pretty angry that she had to pester me so much before I'd let her drive it. I use to say "you don't learn how to drive a clutch in a Porsche". Needless to say those were fightin' words to her. Made her believe I didn't think she was capable. Girls!!!!!!!
Moral of the story, let 'em drive the car! I still have to listen to that story when she's mad at me for spending money on it!

I dont have the same problem (yeah, right .. "problem" ) that Cory does.
Absolutely. and then make her buy you dinner.
Patti learned how to drive stick in the 944.
Now she needs to get her Boxster.

I have let anyone learn stick on my car... Then again my tranny blew....
I have no problem with it, I love teaching people stick on my car. I don't mind people driving my car as long as I know them and I am in the car with them. There are acceptions though.. I don't like my sister driving my car and if I had it my way she would be stuck driving a ford Festiva for the rest of here human life.

You don't have a box that fit's your 951 situation, that one would have been my choice.
My wife can drive a manual (I taught her in ~'85), in fact her current car is the first automatic since then and she didn't get that 'til '01. I've tried to get her to drive the 44 but she assumes that if something were to happen, she'd never hear the end of it. She's probably right. I've been trying to talk her into trying DE lately, upgrades would be easier to get away with if it was 'our car' instead of 'Dave's car.'
