Hell, I've only gotten my wife in my car two time in the past seven months that I've had it. First time was to take pick her up from the Found On Road Dead (FORD) dealer and the second was to take her back to pick up that pig (the van) not the wife!!

I forgot to give my wife credit for one thing!
When we met she was driving a POS chevy monza (Predacessor to the cavalier for the youngsters here) that she shared with her sister. Her sister always had it so she decided that she wanted her own car and on top of that she wanted to learn to drive a standard. I took one look at my current (at the time) toy and before I could think up an excuse she added 'don't worry, she had no intention of learning in my car." she went to the local VW dealer and picked out a several year old Rabbit, I took her and her father to pick it up and he drove it home. I taught her to drive it that night and she drove it to work the next day. I still admire her commitment for buying the car before she knew how to drive it.

I bought the 44 FOR the wife. Much rather have her drive it than the NSX. Plus, we have agreed to try DE's and AX's together, because, as much as I would like to use the NSX, it's just too expensive IF it breaks.
My only caveat is that she is not allowed to drive it until I feel it is completly roadworthy. I'm still fixing it up, and want to make sure EVERYTHING on it is working and safe before I hand over the keys for good.

I let the girlfriend drive the car all the time. She's driven it on the track at Sebring, Limerock, NHIS, Watkins Glen, and Pocono. As many autocrosses a year as we can.

When I was dating my wife she drove the RX7 convertible after not driving a stick for 10 years.

When we got married she bought me the S2. Not only did she drive the RX and the S2, she autocrossed them. She has her own very pretty white helmet with a porsche emblem on it.

In the summer of 01 she took the porsche to a class one day, the RX the next and the rainy day the legend with the judge plates.

so yes she drives all of our cars. she says the firebird is mine, and drove it once and said the handling sucked - too squirmy and has had no desire to drive it since. but she knows where the keys are, just not sure of the starting procedure (25 pumps on gas, turn key 4 second, 20 more pumps...)

oh yeah in 91 when the RX7 was two weeks old i tought my then girlfriend how to drive stick at the cape.

I used to let my wife drive the 951 everynow and then, until one day she said man that thing will hit triple digits before you know it. She was on the highway and a car in front of her was doing 60 so she dropped to second and passed them and said she was doing 110 before she knew it. I let her drive it to the grocery store a couple of years later and she locked our daughter in the car (she was 18 months at the time) and the cops came and busted out the window.
Now she does not even ask to drive the car (since it is 2 tone). She will not even ride in it until I paint it, it has been 1yr since the car has had a red front and with words like that I am not in a hurry to paint it.

My new GF has only driven the 914 once and loved it and that makes me happy. However, my former GF drove the 911 and the 914 and would even auto-x them. Now, I do well in auto-xing, but she was getting closer to me with her times, so she had to go (just kidding)! But I have no problems letting my new better half share in my other (besides her) my passion! She is a keeper anyway! Best wishes - Jay Gratton

I let my ex girlfriend drive the early '44, no problem there.
I also love to let my dad drive them, he's an ex muscle car guy (69 Corvette L88 owner).
I swear on my life - he got my 84 to chirp its tires going into 3rd gear.

Man I love my Dad.

My wife has driven every one of my Porsches, as hard as she wants. I encourage her to do so.
She has autocrossed my 951 and 944 and routinely has driven my 930 and Boxster. She loves the power, handling and look of them.
The way I look at it, she loves driving them, and thus shares in my enthusiasm for them. She is an ally in this sickness, not an opponent.
Every time I want buy another Porsche, she's right there with me.

Guys, you can't beat that.

My girlfriend has a 1995 Acura Integra that is fairly modified and after a couple of incidents she has had with that, there is no way she gets her hands on the keys to the Porsche. She is going to start Auto xing the Teg this summer though

I let her drive it anytime she wants, but she always says my current 951 "feels like it has a mind of it's own, and wants to scare me" whenever she gets back.
