Default Audi 016:Let's get this straight and on the record.

I know the 944 has a variation of the Audi 016. I do believe the 931 bellhousing is the same bolt pattern as the 016 so please confirm. I know also that the 968 has a variation of the 01E 6sp.
Here's what I need to know. I am trying to swap a different engine in my 944. Kennedy makes adapters to the 016 so if the 931 is the same pattern we're good. And I believe Race boy was in the process of putting a Audi Torsen in the 016 K. If you all could direct me to that would be appreciated. And I know there are other engines besides the I5 that will bolt but don't know exactly. If possible I wanted no adapter because I wanted to run VW/Audi anyways so if anyone knows which engines please respond.

I'm talking about the 931 engine bellhousing. The one that connects engine to torque tube in the engine bay. Is that bellhousing the same as an Audi 016?

The clutch bell housing (at the engine) has a completely different pattern than the transmission bell housing.

What engine are you looking at?
1.8T? Audi I-5? VW I-5 (different than Audi).

The 931 clutch bellhousing bolts up to the Audi I-5.
It Does NOT fit the VW 1.8T or VW I-5.

Look in the 944 turbo forum, there is a thread going on about putting the VW I-5 into a 944 and they're having a custom bellhousing made up by Quicktime that will also be suitable for a 1.8T.

I remember reading a million times on the internet that the 931 bellhousing will bolt onto an Audi i5. But then, I also remember reading one time that someone actually tried it, and it did not work perfectly. I don't remember exactly what it was, but it is not plug-and-play.

Older Audi v8 that came originally mated to the 016

From what I understand the 944 2.5 engine clutch bellhousing is Porsches own design. But the 931 ea vw block that clutch bellhousing has been the same bolt pattern as an Audi 016 that's what I'm trying to figure out.
