Default Power to weight ratios of cars

1987 944 n/a - .052
1998 Hyundai Elantra - .052
2nd Gen Rx7 n/a - .058
2nd Gen RX7 Turbo - .065
3rd Gen RX7 Turbo - .089
92 sentra ser - .057
Nissan 350z - .088
Mazda RX-8 .079
1998 Supra Turbo - .091
Dodge Viper gts - .13
Honda s2000 - .085
Porsche Boxster - .071
Porsche 944 Turbo - .079
Subaru WRX - .074
Subaru WRX STI - .091
Nissan Sentra Spec V - .064
Ford Focus SVT - .066
Dodge Neon SRT4 - .083
Mistu Lancer EVO - .083
92 Nissan TT - .086
93 Porsche Carrera - .10

Tested 0-60 for the 944 NA would be about 8.3 secs..
There is some correlation between 0-60 times and the power/weight ratio.
944 NA is about 2792 lbs. (kinda porky)..Now if I can get rid of about 100 lbs. off the car then ratio would be at .054
To get rid of 200 lbs off the car then ratio would be at .057 then it would be only in par with a 92 Sentra SE-R (0-60 in 7.7 secs) ..still better than 8.3.

Let's see, how much weight would be shaved off taking the back seat out, removing the AC, remove spare tire, all carpeting, paneling, and rear bumpers?

367 divided by 1047 = .35 (holy smokes..)

Ever measured the 0-60 of that midget?
What's it running?

Same ratio but I bet the 944 will beat it in a straight line. Im guessing that the Elantra 0-60 is probably in the mid to high 8's. While our 944 is in the low 8's. On the track, well that Elantra is not designed for that.

WHOA his hyundai is defenitly not that quick and I don't think many others are, but his is pretty much stock, beside a K&N filter.

I was amazed how much of a difference the throttle cam made, I had driven a 944 earlier this month w/o the cam I was impressed but not as much as the one I bought and took it for it's first test drive today. (sorry for the hijack)

Yea I saw that site, I'm ok, I'll be happy with what I got before I destroy my good condition/strong running 944.

The midget is direct drive we have to use a truck etc to push start it. Motor is 164 CU Aries 4 cyl. witha SBC head 18:1 CR direct mechanical fuel injection (methanol) The injectors are on the back side of the head pointing directly at the intake valves. I wish I could take off from a standstill and measure the 0-60! Imagine aa sprint car though. approx 1500 lbs or 200 with 800 HP

http://www.the-rocketman.com/kitty.html

THE quickest human-piloted vehicle ever I talked to the builder on the phone a couple times. He also has obviously also piloted it. Ky Michaelson's his name, good guy. He was also the first to ever install a rocket on a car back in '52 I think he said it was... so all those rocket dragster you see were conceptually started by him

1/4 MILE WORLD RECORD HOLDER: 3.22 SEC @ 412MPH!!! THAT'S OVER 5.83 AVERAGE G's!!

I asked him what it felt like. He said as soon as the peroxide hit the silver mesh and "ignited" he went tunnel-vision almost blacking out... and that it felt like a rearend collision at high speed.... wow!

Back Seat - 15lbs
AC - 35-50 lbs
Spare Tire and Jack - 30lbs
Carpeting - not sure, probably 20-50lbs with all the sound deadening
Paneling - Not sure again, probably another 20-50 pounds, but with no carpet and no paneling the car is not really streetable anymore
Rear Bumpers - Just the pads are like 3-5lbs each.

Do a search on weight reduction, it's been talked about alot.
