Default 944 won't crank over?

Hi guys after a full engine rebuild can't get car to crank over. It's an auto checked the lever switch and starter and solenoid they all seam fine. When I try to start it I hear the click at the fuse box and relays. Powered solenoid from battery and worked ok?

Can you turn the engine over by hand? Or is something in the bellhousing/flywheel area causing it to lock up?

I was thinking along those lines, but when I turn the key I can hear relays click, looked at the switch on the auto gear leaver that looks good, I am going to check to wire on the 2 wire connector on the bulkhead red / black to see if that will crank the starter. At least that will eliminate that wire to starter motor.

Charge you battery and see if things change. Our cars are voltage sensitive.

Thanks I will put it on charge. I have found the issue, I took the wires off the ignition to feed the auto gear change switch and this got it turning over, i stripped back the wires and someone had cut the red / black wire and attached a small wire to each end? I connected the red black again and now I have it cranking over. Any idea why someone would cut this wire? Thanks!

Did it crank fine before you did the engine rebuild? It is difficult to believe something broke while sitting unless it sat for a long time.

If you use a screwdriver to jump across the starter solenoid from under the car, does it crank? Make sure it is not in gear or the car may run you over if it starts.

Hi I bought and the engine in the car had the belt snapped! Got a new motor stripped it new rings bearings seals etc, been hard work these last 5 months! So I have never heard it running it has been stood for several years. The ignition wire must have been cut before but why would you do that? Will trace the wires to see where they lead me!
So I have managed to get the starter to work but don't understand why the starter wire was cut near the ignition?

So did it crank when you jumped the solenoid with a screwdriver?

So i had starter turning over and no spark! After checking coil I went back to ignition wires and found the black ground cable had been cut also as well as the black/Red wire I 're joined to get power to starter. As I only got the car 6 months ago and the car had not run for 6 years I think some one had had a go at the wireing or perhaps an imobilizer ? Anyway connected black wire, started straight away. I got there after 5 hard months! Thanks for all the advice guys! 👍
