84 944 - Cig lighter got hot, now fuse keeps blowing.
So, story goes... I was using a cig lighter compressor to fill up a tire, and turned it off when I realized the plug was getting hot, then I put car the away.
The next time I went to drive it, the stereo wouldn't turn on. Fuse was blown.
So I went to put in another fuse, and immediately when it touched it blew.
So theres a short somewhere - and I pulled the center dash pieces to check the back of the cig lighter, and all looked fine there.
Where should I check next? Probably the plug on the back of the fuse box...?

Had the same issue. The 12v outlet shorted out but looked fine. Remove rear positive center wire. Put in a new fuse bet everything else works fine. As an alternative, car off, use a continuity tester ground to side and center of lighter will get beep both ways. H
