Engine Trade (16V for 8V)?
Would anyone be interested in trading a 1987 16V S engine for a good 8V NA engine? I need an SP2 legal engine for my race car and I have this 16V lump kicking around my garage. I have never had it installed/running. It came from a PCA friend who swapped it for an S2 engine. It was running when it came out and sat in his garage for a couple of years until it has now sat in my garage for a year. It has an engine harness, exhaust headers and intake up to the throttle body. I am in upstate NY and am not interested in shipping engines around the country. I could travel a few hours to make something happen though.
Thanks,
Nate

I'd be your guy if you weren't so far away.
Have perfectly running previous SP2 engine (same spec) that came out my son's multi track record setting SP2 car.
Currently moving him to SP3 and another donor S engine in my standby stash would be worth the trade for me.
Oh well, good luck....,
T

Thanks for the responses. Curious....do you think a S engine'd car would be competitive in SP3? I was toying with running in SP3 but there is so much crazy kit up there. An S has a min weight of 2500 lbs and a S2 has a min weight of 2700 lbs. Is that enough of a difference?

Remember, shows up in the weight plays 3 roles.
Acceleration, braking and turning, so it's more than just comparing the 200lbs vs power.
The lighter car will be easier on consumables, tires, pads, fuel.
What's more, from 2016-on, for 944S only, PCA rules made "cams free" and allows use of S2 intake.
So, you can easily make S2 power at 2500 weight...., less torque though.
I think it's a no brainer, it's the route I'm going on current build.
