Default Headlights won't go down.

My headlights will go up but not down. I replaced the motor, the switch, and the relay. I checked the fuses and all were ok. Now I checked the fuses again and #37 has no power. It is the only fuse in the fuse box with no power. I doubt the wire came off underneath as it is the only one. Were should I look next?

Have you wiggled the headlight motor connector and wiring harness to the motor? That seems like the weak link to me.

Do you have power at the red/green wire (signal to go down) at the motor with key on, headlight switch off.
Fuse #37 is only hot when the headlights are on. That's for the signal to go up.

I only have power to the red/blue wire but not the red/green wire.

That red/green wire needs to be hot with the headlights switch in the off position. What year is your car?

I doubt this is your issue , but i had a similar problem
What was happening to me was the headlight apparatus was getting caught on the hood release cable on the drivers side . it would jam and cause the fuse to blow .
a zip tie fixed my issue .
if you have been tinkering around in there check to make sure nothing is binding .
from the sounds of things this is not your problem but it costs nothing to check

I've had a similar issue but it was the windshield washer pump that had come loose. It was preventing the headlights from going down.

Had one where if you touched the manual override **** they'd go down. The rotary contactor in the motor assembly that handled the Up or Down logic was dirty or worn out.

My car is a 1986. I have checked all the possible binding areas and they are all clear. I have also replaced the motor.

Check to see if you have power at connector "H", pin #23 at the central electrical box with the headlight switch in the off position, key on.

If no power, there's a break between pin #23 and the #16 fuse.

If there is power, there's a break between pin #23 and pin #3 of the headlight motor.

Let us know what you found.

Default I have a similar problem

Mine do go up and down, but most of the time the lights won't go down right away, might take from 1 to 10 mins for them to go down.

Marc Abrams, I know this is an old thread, but I have the same issue. Lights go up but not down. What do you mean by "connector 'H'. pin #23' "? Thanks.

Did you ever find out what was causing this? I have the exact same situation and have replaced motor, switch and relay. Thanks.
