Porsche 924 CV joint help

I just bought a 1987 924s the other day, but I ran into a problem. My CV joint on my rear passenger side on my 924s broke and immobilized my car. I know that VW owns Porsche, and that the VW Vanagon actually has the same axle as my 924. My question is can I buy a VW CV joint for my Porsche? When I google Porsche CV joint the price is around $70, but when I change Porsche to VW the price drops to $40. Would they be the same fit or do I have to spend the extra $30?

The Vanagon joint itself will fit, I just did this a few months ago for my 944. Splines are the same. The Vanagon axles (i.e. whole assembly) will work for any 944 with aluminum rear arms, I forget what a 924S has.

Be wary of sh**ty aftermarket joints and axles. EMPI is questionable quality but is probably ok for a street driven NA. GKN/Lobro is the way to go unless you literally cannot afford good parts.

924S is aluminum rear arms - rear suspension should be almost entirely the same as late 944 and 968s. I've heard a lot of stories on this forum about the $70 rockauto axles breaking, so I went with a GKN when I did mine, was around $190 at FCP Euro. Sounds like the Vanagon part should fit, but maybe get a spare just in case?
