Yes but how do you know he's not pulling his buddies Hatteras around also.

The ad is pretty awesome.

No punches pulled, clearly a "No BS tolerated" ad. I'm not surprised the lowballers/scammers have dropped away.

I do have to say that the line about not enough room in the backseat for the boyfriend to try anything is not correct.

'Young'uns' are amazingly limber and inventive.

Back seat of a Subaru, front seat of a Festiva, under the back hatch of an RX-7.
Cramped and uncomfortable, but still fun.

I've done that! I had an '83 in black, burgundy interior!

the beater car in the op might be worth $1,500.

I've got more time than you do calibrating gauges using actual calibrated reference instruments on nuclear powered submarines, neither of which really mean a whole lot as pertains to this car.

If the needle hits red and I see steam coming out from under the hood or a flashing temperature light, I will shut things off and start worrying then. Until then, this car is for sale as is. It's got 217k miles, it's not going to run and perform like it did 31 years ago when new. Honestly, no matter how much is spent on it, it will likely never be that good again. And that's what makes the car hobby fun. You can make it different, you can make it better, you can make it worse, but you will never duplicate OEM exactly.
Do tell...

Yeah, but it's dead-on at the low end. If I change it around, I'll run out of gas all over town.

The market must be different by you. Here in PHX, pieces of **** are asking $2500 and decent (not great) 944's are asking 12.5 (not turbo, not S, lots of early models).

cheers,
c

^+1. The rear seat folds down yielding a huge flat carpeted area under the stars. You could have a threesome back there.

This is practically a compliment seeing as you are the resident troll here. I've seen enough to know that. Your Larts buddy so of course you lowball everything. You can't buy parts cars for that anymore. Good 944s are 7-10k nowadays. This one is what it is. Good turbos are 12-18k. It's a sad time to be 944 hunting. Good on those who bought in cheap. Those days are fading fast.

Maybe it’s the part of the country but here in FL there are still many cars at realistic prices. I’ve bought more 944’s in the last 3 months than the last 10 years. An 87na with 126k, decent body and original paint, tired interior but sports seats, good running engine, belts just done cost me $2,600 (advertised for $4k and couldn’t sell it). I bought a running 168k stock 88 turbo for $4,800, it needs interior and paint but the body was straight (owner had it for sale for months at $8,500 with the only interest coming from tire kickers). An 96k 86 turbo with a broken timing belt, fuchs, lsd, decent body and interior fell my way for $4,600 (owner asking $6.5k), head refurbished, belt job, oil service & tires it’s now my daily driver. Two na’s, both non-runners and sitting a while but they were complete and straight, one had 15in fuchs, paid $500 and $800. I spent less than $1k to get both running but only one is a viable restore, the other will be a parts car.

If decent na’s are fetching $7-10k they are getting that because they are complete, original, good paint, body, interior and a well maintained engine and running gear plus lower mileage helps. It doesn’t mean half decent cars should fetch half that money. Prices are only up on the good examples, all the others are still were they should be though everyone thinks their values have also increased and ask for more. They either sit unsold or some mug comes along and overpays.

Come by with 7 grand and you can have our S. It's got some nice suspension bits, and the body is straight. It's good. And for 7, we will even wash/vacuum it and drive it up on the trailer for you, or drive it on to the street for you. your choice. Even though I own half the car, I am 100% sure my co owner will not only sign the title, but also throw in the nifty manila file folder he has it stored in.

Just because people are asking those numbers doesn't mean they are changing hands for those numbers.

I don't really want to relive my time in the Navy, it was long ago and mostly results in nightmares now, but I do have some funny stories too.

My real accept price is $3500 and I may update the ad to reflect that. If it won't bring $3500, it may very well get stripped down and converted to LS1 power. In the meantime I could do the suspension and drive it auotX and HPDE days and let the 2.5 blow if it wants to. I'm about to have a lot of cash flow and will do my Miata 5.0 project first but I could easily question this as project car #2.

And what about purse dogs? Does that disqualify me? I just inherited a miniature Dachshund from my daughter that poops all over the bedroom. I'm sort of hoping one of my Rotts will eat her, but my wife would be furious.

I have 3 bar on hot day at idle when driving hard on track, in the winter(right now) normally it's 3.75 to nearly 4. 18000km on rod bearings.
