The Stone Gray Metallic on my S2 stealthily blends in with weathered asphalt unlike "Arrest Me Red" that attracts the eye of the gendarmes The red one I drive like I have a brain

If I had a favorite color and I wasn't concerned about anything else it would be Anthracite Black. On a 1986 930. Those are truly beautiful. You could part me from a portion of my 401K with one of those...

Peter, that had to set you back a bit. I don't find fault with any of it though if that's what you meant? After a build like that I can't imagine why you might be tempted to call yourself a neophyte. That's pretty serious drive train work.

It's just Scott BTW. "Scott" was already used so I had to pick something else when I created my account.

PS: Personally, I probably wouldn't have gone with the Sachs clutch unless I was very serious about using OEM parts. In my ongoing 944S2 build, I chose to use the SPEC 3+ clutch and I have to admit I've already grown to like it.

Otto these are the parts used in a 944 S2 clone, as he calls it, just checking with you if this is worth buying. The car has been painted recently, needs a few things like radio, and few other.

Peter -

I can't speak for those parts. I'm certain it isn't possible to turn a 2.5 or 2.7L 944 into an S2 only because the truly defining aspect of an S2 is its 3.0L engine. Anything less (or more for that matter if you're looking at an LS1 hybrid as the Odor suggests) won't be an S2.

You get what you pay for. The car may be a very well prepared NA 944, but without a 3L motor it isn't an S2.

Regards,

I think I have narrowed it down to either an S or an S2, but those are quiet a bit more money, will have to be patient and wait for the right car,
I agree the RED will get the attention of the gendarmes for sure. The way I drive , I should stay away from RED !! The only red car I ever had 20 years ago gave me the most tickets ! I bet most of you are watching the Rolex 24h !! P cars are doing badly this year !! GOOD show for the 2 Ford GT.s !! besides being beautiful.

S and S2 are two completely different animals. I had 3 S2s, and regret selling the stone gray/burgundy in my avatar. But then again the kid in the avatar in front of the gray S2 at a zone autocross, and in the signature picture standing between the red 90 S2 and velvet 89 951 just flew to San Antonio with me and we picked up an E46 323ci for her first car.

The S and the NA are not different around town. The S gets a boost in the higher revs. The S2 has low end torque that the turbo, NA and S don't have. I had them all, and have the S now. If you are not tracking the at, there isn't much difference between the NA and the S. The NA and S have the same suspension and brakes.

If you are not looking for collectability and want the look of a 944, look for a 968 powered 944.

Scott is that "Anthracite" pure black or metallic? I've had "Tuxedo Black" (Corvette), "Vivid Black" (Harley Davidson) and black is always black, while white has around 270 shades to the discerning eye. I bought a black metallic Scirroco so long ago I can't recall the name but probably the same paint as Porsche but in a VW can. I've seen seats and material shared with Scirrocos too.

Talking 944

Maybe I should just give up on the 944 all together, The most I do on my P car is change THE OIL . and simple maint. Break pads replacement I take to a shop. Since we are retired we are on a fixed income. and from what I hear the 944's all of them have pricy maintenance on date.. Like T Belt at 30k which Is that the biggest job? H2O pump, and more. If I had other 944 owners in Aiken SC it would make things easier for me. but there are none. that I know of. Then my wife in not very happy with me wanting the extra P car. ! She gives me the reality check as most women do. She has suggested that I find me a newer 911 and sell the one I have and the 08 Jetta ( GLI clone) which I have personalized with a Borla exshaust lowering springs 17 and a set of 18 wheels and other small stuff..
that's all boys and girls !!
