Super sluggish 944 N/A
So I revived a 2 year sitter 944 by installing a new fuel pump, filter and injectors, and new plugs. Also all fluids have been changed. However when test driving it it feels very slow when I step on the throttle it has very little response, and once I get to 40 mph it feels like it doesn't want to accelerate at all even in 4th gear.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies, I removed the exhaust at the flange from the header to the Catylitic Converter and still had the same problem (forgot to mention that). But the timing being off is a real possibility. I'm going to check the timing and will update here if it's off. Again thanks for the info.

Also forgot to mention that I took the air box off to test the air flow sensor, and it wasn't dirty but it does have some oil in it. There's also oil in the intake, so I'm thinking bad oil separator seals maybe. But would that make it super sluggish.

Well yeah, it's a 944 ;P
But seriously, check the timing first, if the belt slipped a tooth or was installed incorrectly, there's no telling what other issues could be lurking. If the timing is ok, get a fuel pressure gauge (you'll need a custom one for the 944, I have this one http://www.arnnworx.com/catalog/inde...9#.WlOHm1UrJhE). Assuming you haven't replaced the fuel pressure regulator, it could be wonky. Check that the throttle cable is properly adjusted too if you haven't yet. You could also do a compression test if you think the engine is significantly worn.

Oh ok the fuel pressure regulator could also be a real possibility, I already purchased a gauge but just need the right fitting for the fuel rail. So on the list I have to check the timming and then fuel pressure.

Sluggish when accelerating sounds like a vacuum line problem to me. Test all your vacuum lines and check them for cracks, brittleness and porosity by slightly bending when you examine them. Common leaks are at the ISV or anywhere under the intake.

having the cam set 1 tooth retarded makes a 944 unbelievably gutless.
running lean will make it slower but it would still accelerate all the way up to comfortable highway speed.
when i first got a MAF kit installed a few years ago i didn't have a chance to dial it in before having to hit the road, drove 150 miles at 16-17:1 AFR
no power, but cruised well and got good MPG LOL

To be honest probably as old as the car. I know when I took off the Catylitic Converter performance went down even worse than it was so maybe. So now my list is to check fuel pressure, timming, and o2 sensor. Thanks for the tip though.
I would have checked it yesterday but I was working on my friends Accord lol.

Ok so I did at least one thing on my list I checked the fuel pressure and it read 30 psi, but when I revved it up the needle got erratic and increased to 33 psi then dropped to 25 psi, then back to 30 psi.
I was almost convinced that it's a timming issue but the fact that sometimes the engine runs a little better than other times may point to the fuel pressure regulator.
Gonna check timming tomorrow though, I promise.
