I am, like many of us, locked in to a freezing icebox with fresh snow on the ground. But never fear, driving season will return! Here are a few photos that my son-in-law Andy took of the 944R, in warmer sunnier times here in NC. Enjoy!

I'm waiting patiently for warmer weather here in Detroit. We haven't even been in the upper teens for a couple weeks now, it feels like. At least my winter beater is a 4x4 so I can still have fun in the snow.
Great looking 944, by the way - I really like that blue! Who makes that rollcage, or was it a custom job?
Slomo, I'm in Ann Arbor, and this weather has halted work on finishing my engine swap, as it's so cold that the engine can't even start because of the thick oil haha.
btw what is "driving season"?
surely you mean "needlessly disassemble the car just to tinker with it despite the otherwise nice weather"?
All comments from folks living in CA and AZ will be cheerfully ignored Although I do understand from watching Jay Leno videos that you can't drive up into the "canyons" because of fire and smoke. Ironic.

Harvey, A little off topic but your fire extinguisher looks to be a "Kidde" brand. There is a recall on some that look like that one. I have 2 that fall under this recall. Cheek out the Kiddy website. Nice looking car !

Scott, the salt here it so awful. At least in NY they started using liquid stripes of salt on the road. Here the roads are basically made of it. Does your car have rust anywhere?

Mike - are you kidding? The only reason I drove Herbie in the winter was because there was significant rust already. That photo was from about ten years ago. I picked up a shell to transfer everything when things got too bad. Never got to it, but then poor Herbie was rear-ended eight years ago.
Most of the mechanicals are still good and will - one day - get transferred to the shell - but it will be a RallyCross car.
I ended up getting an S2 (Stu) to take the place of Herbie. Still have not completed the engine rebuild and install. A new garage/ workshop is currently taking all of my free time. Come spring though....
The 944 is tucked away in storage for the nasty winter here in upstate NY. Like someone already said, I wouldn't want to start it up as thick as the old 20W-50 gets when it is below 0F!
My suspension parts are piling up nicely though. Nothing stopping me from refurbing a set of control arms and strut housings with all new bushings and some Koni inserts!

The Kidde recall is for extinguishers with plastic nozzles and handles.
It looks like the one in the car fits that description.
I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, but the website is simple to navigate, check, register.
Anyone have any experience with 'tire chains' or whatever fancy modern technology they got now (tire straps) for traction enhancement in the snow?
What works and what doesn't on the phone-dial wheels.
