Default 944 S2 Engine noise

Just noticed a loud ticking from the underhood, took a video after a cold start. Haven't noticed it until now, it's a high frequency noise that sounds like lifter noise, but wanted to get a second opinion - about to drive to SoCal from the Bay and don't want to do so if it is rod knock! Car is a '90 S2 with 115k miles. Timing belt done fairly recently.

see that black plastic thing between the intake and valve cover, over the fuel injectors?

pull it off and see if the noise gets a little louder.

944S/S2 injectors are crazy loud.

Hard to tell from the video, but sounds pretty much like the normal S2 engine sound.
As V2 stated, the injectors are fairly loud.

Since you have a concern that it might be rod knock; how is the oil pressure, and have you listened to the oil pan area under the car?

Sounds like lifter/injector noise as stated above. Drive it for 20 mins and see how it sounds, I bet it's quieter.

You did do the rollers when you changed the timing belt right?

Sounds like every 944 I’ve owned especially after they have sat a while or just gone on short trips.
