Default Rear 944 Valance wont fit on my '86 NA?

I've read many topics on this and have seen enough pictures to do the turbo rear valance install on my NA. but today when I decided to peak under my rear bumper and see whats going on I ran into a problem. It appears my rear bumpers have a seal of some sort that completely blocks off where I would drill the 2 holes for the valance studs. It all looks factory but no one else has mentioned this so I'm a bit confused. What am I looking at?? Do i access the studs from the trunk or underneath to screw on bolts?

Car is a 1986 944 NA.

Thanks
Justin

You don’t have to drill any holes underneath, look for 4 slots that are already there on either side of the muffler. They are probably blocked off with mastic, tape or both from the factory. The only holes you have to drill are on the side of the rear fenders for the studs to fit through into the inside wheel well/trunk area. Not my photo but this is what the slots underneath look like after they are uncovered.

The holes on the side of the car are what I'm referring to. When I drill those holes how do i access the studs? Through the trunk or from under the car? Because what I circled would completely block access to them from underneath the car. thanks

You access the studs through the trunk, what you have circled do not interfere with anything on the diffuser mounts. If you remove those rear marker lights and mount up the diffuser all will become clear as day.
