RIP Clark Fletcher, patron saint of 944 owners

Sad news for the 944 community this morning- Clark Fletcher (of Clark's Garage) has passed away at 59. Clark's shop manual is pretty much the bible for most of us, and it's hard to imagine any other single person has contributed more to the 944 world. :( :( :(

Here's to you, Clark, you will be missed!

MONCKS CORNER, S.C.
The body of a missing North Carolina diver has been found in a South Carolina river.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said the body of 59-year-old Clark Fletcher of Hickory, North Carolina, was found Monday in the Cooper River near Cypress Gardens.

Fletcher had been missing since he went diving in the river Saturday. Salisbury said the search was complicated by low visibility and a swift-moving current.

Fletcher and three others were with a commercial dive master when Fletcher disappeared.

Sheriff Duane Lewis said the U.S. Coast Guard and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources helped in the search.

Authorities said Fletcher was a certified diver who had made 70 dives.

An autopsy was scheduled Tuesday at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston.

As an often user of Clark's Garage, this is very sad news.

Clark put great effort in supporting the 944 community and I only hope that there is something that we can do in return. We will all miss him and if anyone knows how we may give our support to his family, please let us know.

Rest in peace Clark; you taught me everything I know about cars. I'm quite sure you've helped more people keep their 944's on the road than anyone else out there.

Squid924 10-11-2017 05:33 PM

I wonder how many 944's are still on the road because of his website?

alex.rhodes 10-11-2017 06:34 PM

Sad news. I know I've used his wealth of knowledge to help keep two 944 on the road and have pointed others to his website as well. Hope his family is doing ok.

Very sorry to hear this, a great loss to his family and friends as well as to the 944 community.

This is very sad news for everyone. A great guy, sharing all his knowledge about our cars. His site is a bible, I use it often. He will be missed. :(

Clark, wherever you are, thank you very much for all your work.

Clarks Garage

It is sad that he passed so early in his life. My condolences to his family.

His spirit will be with us for many years to come, through his "Clarks Garage" site, which so many of us refer to regularly to help us maintain and repair our 924's/944's.

God's speed.

That's terrible! I still rely on his site. Hope it survives. Perhaps we need to memorialize it here on Rennlist?
