Source for replacement engine - 1988 944 NA
So, rolled the dice on an 88 NA that was listed as needing a tuneup.. And it needs a little more, like a new engine.
I still want to keep the car since it’s Celebration edition, the body is solid with no rust and no accidents.
Interior is another matter, but I’m willing to stagger those repairs out over time.
Is there a reputable source for pulled engines that have been checked out first? I’ve got a solid shop here in KC that can do the swap, but ebay is always a crap shoot and I’m assuming the junkyards aren’t going to be giving an engine a once over before selling it lol..
It’s been a disappointing day and I’m hoping there are some shops I’m unaware of that can source a decent replacement engine
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Save up and invest in rebuilding the engine you have. It just took me a couple of years to do mine. Wossner pistons, machined/Nikasil plated bores...It wasn't really that bad.

If you don't want to ship, there is a guy in Tekamah, NE that breaks down Porsche's. He's on the google as Nebraska Porsche Recyclers but sells on ebay as 'tekamah'. I've been to his house and all his 'parts' cars are running and driving cars stored in a huge building out of the elements. He basically buys cars that have nothing wrong with them with the sole purpose of parting them out (worth more in parts than whole). He's not the cheapest guy around but everything he sells is clean. If he doesn't have it, he can get it.
