I'm ready to load up....!!!!!!! Wait, almost forgot my $129 race seat....:roflmao: T |
UPDATE...
Ended up going with a Sabelt seat and harnesses... And after almost a season now all I can say is WOW, What a difference a seat makes... I actually Shaved lap times just becase I am now "Locked in" … I had to make some HUGE modifications to the car however... I am 6' and wanted the seat as low as possible so.... 1) I cut the original "Floor Rib" out in the rear. 2) Had to cut my cage partial apart and Re-do Door bars. 3) Had to modify the mounting points in the rear, weld in plates ect. The seat is still on tracks however to get the seat low enough I mounted the tracks "Outboard" They ar now on the side of the seat and the bottom of the seat is about 6mm from the actual floorplan. 4 While I was at it modified window net setup so I don't smash my head on the dam tab on the A pillar...LOL Love the seat... and I love being so low in the car.. You cant really see how low it is in this pic but the top of my helmet is level with the top of the seat when Im in.. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...001f507df8.jpg |
Can you post some pics of the cage in the rear trunk area ?
My car came with a 10 gal fuel cell and the installation is rather sketchy ,i like the looks of the transverse bars you have installed ! I need to repair/replace the left rear quarter over the Winter so the idea of a reinforcement in that area is appealing to me. Cheers Phil |

think it'd be possible to mount the factory original seats directly to the floor pan, if the "rails" were cut out?
is there a rear rail too, or just one in the front? I can't remember. I am 6'6 and need all the headroom I can get. |
Thank you for the pictures.
Guess my new TIG welder will see some good use over the Winter ! What scares me about my car is the fact it was previously a NASA car where they require a fuel cell and that the previous owner had removed the rear bumper to save weight ... not much rear potection ! |

There are two "Ribs" across the floor, The receiver plates are Captive in those plates. The other issue that comes up with a "Halo" seat is the outermost top.. The whole seat needs to be moved inboard just a bit.. Sure you could bolt to the floor pan but I decided against because its just a piece of thin steel I welded a plate off the rocker portion and drilled and tapped it for the bolts. On the inside rearmost mounting point I used the factory point but Cut right up to it and then welded a plate to "CAP" where I cut it... If you're 6"6 you would still fit comfortable in this car.. My friend is like 5"6 and he cant see over the dash.LOL It was a TON of work but man is it comfy... I had to also Drop my crossbar about 8" in the rear because my shoulder harnesses were at the wrong angle... Lesson Learned.. Next time.. Build the cage around the seat that ultimately is going to be used... |

They offer a custom "Foam your butt in place kit" I looked at them however they are not FIA hence No Seat rails... and with the Rake on the A pillar with a halo seat I need the sliders to move that seat out of the way when I want to escape..
