Excellent write up, Aaron, and very timely for me as I’ve just experienced a bit of an electrical incident in my 951. No fire, but things got hot enough to melt the insulation completely off one of my power wires (DME pin 18) and damage quite a few neighboring wires.

Having read through this thread, and exploring some of the links provided, I’ve got a couple of questions.

Am I correct in assuming you’ve abandoned the factory wire colors? I could be wrong, but it didn’t seem the vendor you referenced supplied all of the color options to reproduce the harness using factory colors. Assuming this was the case, I’m assuming you developed your own schematic unique to your car now?

Any chance you recorded measurements with regard to wire lenghs? This question goes to Dare, too, as my harness will also go into an ‘86 951. I’d like to be able to cleanly cut in mods already installed such as M-Tune and a Zeitronix WB system.

Thanks again for the great write up, and to those who subsequently contributed. I believe I may have found my winter project...

Thanks for the tip on Prowire USA. Very high quality wire and fast shipping.

I didn't keep exact measurements of the lengths of each wire, but I do have some rough overall dimensions for the harness...

The dimensions in this diagram are lengths between branching points.

Also, see some other notes regarding wire lengths in my Wiring album.

Anyone try this connector and confirm it works?
