88 944 purchase
Bought this 944 last fall, had a rod knock, bought "as is", #2 cyl. had scoring due to metal in oil. Bought a used block and rebuilt, getting close to finishing enjoying this fall.

I ended up using a '85 block, so it has the early manual type belt tensioner, otherwise I used the '88 high compression pistons,88 crank, '88 head, oil pan and pump.

'88s are great 944s. The engine makes good power with the high compression pistons, tho not as great as the '89s. Glad you were able to preserve the entirety of what it once was.
( profile pic is of my '86 with color matched FUCHS wheels and hand painted, factory center caps ) but I also own an '88 in Satin Black Metallic..... a Jubilee/Celebration model of which 250 black and 250 Zermatt came to North America )
Nice looking 944. Great of you to save it and nurse it back to good health. Any more photos of it ? Interior and under the engine cover ?

Jubilee Edition, nice! very hard to find. I plan on working on it this weekend and will try and get some more detailed pictures. I was lucky to get this one, the garage I purchased it from had bought from the owner and was planning on parting it out!

nice work, it's coming together well it appears
I would contact the dealer and bring with my title, the vin, or proof of purchase such as a bill of sale. The serial # and description of the stereo would also be of help.
Is it a Blaupunkt ? That is what most all Porsches from the 80s came with. If it's an aftermarket unit, you are going to have to go to the selling dealership of those brands and plead your case there.

Yes original Blaupunkt radio. I didn't have a chance to work on it over the weekend, had family visiting who are still here from Fla. escaping Irma, but I did get my final box of parts from Pelican friday. Hope to post more pics of engine bay when I get a chance soon.

I don't know as of yet if my Audi turbo is OK, which I leave there in my garage, as I am at my other home in the Red River Valley during Spring, Summer, Fall.
Its up on a hill, surrounded by old growth and some LiveOaks, and am away from the water. My neighbors and friends will let me know when they return to their homes when they are allowed to get back on the highways.
Hope all you that were affected by Irma are safe and free from harm.
