I actually ended up with two sets of Fuchs. The 15 inch wheels going on the car first are 911 part numbers (15x7 and 15x8). But lurking on the shelves are a set of 951 fuchs. Having all the extra wheels lying around gave me a good idea for some holiday decorations, a Fuchsmas Tree!

Looking good Ian! Something I've always wanted to do myself. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Thanks. I know the later 944s don't play well with 911 offset Fuchs, so I'm curious how the 924S does with same...or if you need the 951 offsets.

Love the decor!

The first year of the 951 has the low-offset. 911s also had low-offset for many years until 87(?) as well. I got a nice set of Fuchs with 911 part numbers when I bought Nico (our 86 944). You do raise a valid point - I am not sure if the 924S used early or late offset. Too busy/lazy to investigate...

Still don't know if I will use them. Might be good to go back on Nico, one day. Don't expect I will use them on the RallyCross car (whenever that gets built...).

Real progress there, Ian. Looking good.

The 924S using early offset suspension parts, but because of the narrow body you need to use late offset wheels. By going to the "wide" 944 fenders up front, and 924 GTS flares in the back I have to use early offset wheels to fill out the wheel wells.

If you want a proper potent look, use late suspension bits and early offset wheels, fronts need to come with the longer arms, hubs and struts as well, the rears you can only swap the hub because that's the only difference, the Alu arms are all the same.
The 931 will take 8" early offset ET23 wheels on the back with room to spare...so you absolutely need late hubs for the rears if you want to fill out the arches.

It's cool to see that another 924S owner is in my area! I'm interested to see where this goes because I also plan on doing this to my '88 if I decide to keep it. I'm a college student so no garage and no extra money doesn't really help my situation.

Wanted to come back to this thread, no I have not given up on the 924 CGT(S) project, but I did get a bit distracted. I picked up a 931 that needed a ton of work, and then came across someone that wanted a 931 and had another German hatchback to offer up as a trade.

Sure it in't a 944, but a S52 swapped 318ti is still a lot of fun.

There have not been many updates on this project, but we are moving forward slowly but surely.

Is Ian still working on this? I'm looking at a 924S on Craigslist right now with an itchy pocket.

The project is still moving forward, but for a few reasons things slowed down a smidge (Hurricane Florence, other cars needing work, a wife being very pregnant, work, trying to find someone willing to take on the process of final body work and paint). More updates to come.....

Update on the Carrera GTS project, it is now the Carrera GTS2.

Essentially I am going to backdate a 89 S2 (early offset suspension, 951 fuchs, 924 rear 1/4s, and all the other 924 GTS goodies). It might seem like a strange idea to some, but it is the direction I am going. I'm working on scheduling the bodywork, but things are progressing.

i think that's a very logical way to do it, like that yellow 951 backdated years ago.
