Default 924 tach into 84 944

Sorry I'm sure this is covered somewhere but I'm kinda in a rush and haven't found anything too clear.
So I have the 6 pin female connector on the harness in the car. And I'm trying to use a 3 pin male connector on the 924 tach.
Now can I just use the right wires and make my own plug with femal connectors? So now I ask what wires do I need for each of the 3 pins on the 924 tach? I will include some pictures below to be more clear.

Thank you, Any help is great. Trying to get this car done in 2 weeks for Wolfsgart. I have a whole front end suspension and brakes I need to swap from my other 944 and a few other things to get done

2 of the 8 pins on the 944 tach connect to the speedo and some of the 6 other pins are for the MPG meter and upshift light

I knew 2 went to speedo. So I called it a 6 pin and figured some were for that mpg gauge but didn't know which ones I need to just run the tach. Forgot about the light. Thanks

Black wire from the 8 pin goes to +12 on the 3 pin. Green wire from 8 pin to 1 on 3 pin. - on 3 pin is ground. The brown wire from 944 harness. Tach works. I haven't driven it to see anything else yet.

Drove the car a bit today before I pulled the front end. Tach works fine. Speedo works. Just my battery light doesn't work but I think it's just the bulb I never checked them and the only wires I messed with were for the tach.

Just curious why you're switching to 924 gauges?

I get it. I am not a big fan of the yellow gauges either. I used to have a '79 924. But what about the 85mp max speedo -- won't that bug you since the 944 goes a lot faster than 85mph? My 79 924 had white gauges and the speedo went to 160. What year did the 85mph speedo come from?

Not really. If I'm going over 85 it doesn't really matter what the speed it is. Still get arrested. I'm not sure looked like someone wrote 82 or 72 on the plastic but couldn't really read it
