Worked perfectly prior. So, probably not the PO. Crappy paint? Yes, the PO.

Ok. Does not matter fuel mixture, at 3400-3500 rpm I get what feels like a misfire. Thing is, it ONLY happens in 3rd gear. What the heck?

Hey all, had to press the car into a 500 mile drive for an emergency. Now, it looks like I need a coil, but mine has no markings visible. Will a 12v 1.5 ohm coil work? Or, does it need to be a 3.0 ohm unit? Thanks!

Part number for the coil is: 046 905 105, that's a 1.4ohm 12V coil.

Thank you. There is no Porsche or Mercedes dealer here, so I will grab a 1.5 ohm and hope for the best.

They should all be the same.
How did the car do in the 500 mile trip?
I did a 3000 mile trip with both my 924s at the same time...one was driven by a friend.

I got 24.22 mpg doing 65-70 most of the drive. It would hiccup on occasion under load and that was some of what happened before the coil died before. The coil that was with the car was unknown (that died). I'm hoping that a) this one isn't failing or b) that it vibration that is causing issues.

Oh, good luck and enjoy the drive.
Have you tested the new coil yet?

And? did you survive the trip back? How did the car do?
It seems it ate too much fuel...maybe your mixture is off...it should get better mileage like 33mpg doing 70mph.
My old NA did this, and my turbos are capable of 29mpg doing 75-80mph.

I agree, but if I lean it out, at all, it bangs and pops.

I just stopped for lunch on the return journey.

Nice, good old 924s still doing their thing.
You surely have a small vacuum leak of some sort...its drawing air around the CIS plate and that's why you need to keep the mixture rich to compensate.
Or your injectors are shot and pissing instead of spraying, or your system pressure is not right.

Anyway, good luck and i'm happy the 924 works...just think about how old and complicated this machine is and it still works today.
Always brings a smile feeling in my heart when driving my 924s on a long trip with the sunset in my back.
