Default Porsche 924s eBay Chip

So in installed a chip from eBay this morning on my 1987 924S. Installation was easy, but what they fail to mention is the evil plastic cover on the back of the ECU. Remove that first (2x Phillips screws), otherwise it will carve your hand every chance it gets.

In terms of performance of the chip, it works great. I purchased this one...

Stage 3 EPROM Performance Chip For 1985-1987 Porsche 924s 944 ECU DME Race +25HP

Also available from

http://sawyertuning.com/index.php?ro...&product_id=51

I find the plus +25hp claim a little far fetched, but definitely feels faster. Tried a 0-60 and came in at 7.8 seconds with a really sloppy 1st to 2nd. I had some flat spots over 3000rpm before, now with the chip they don't seem to be there. I'm pretty happy with the performance improvement for less than $50.

Where does this mount? Do you have an auto or standard?

It mounts in the DME which is located under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. My car is a manual

Isnt a 7.9 0-60 really slow? I was thinking it should be running 6.5 0-60. What was it previously?

"they" used to make actual performance chips with revised spark/fuel tables years ago.
what is on ebay is someone's ripped-off copy of those chips sold for cheap.
so its basically the same chip but for low price.

Do "they" still make legit chips or did they stop making them?

Yeah, I was thinking 50 bucks for a chip was a bit low. Know they are usually 250-1000 for a chip. Do you have any experience with this one?
