Default Just bought a 924 - only 20K miles

Hey gang - Just picked up a 924 with only 20K certified miles. It is in excellent shape and ready to drive. Good times are here. The only thing i want to change is the chrome muffler tip for a nice new shiny one. Is there a part number for it? I might also remove the pin stripe that goes all the way around the car.

While not an expensive item, the exhaust tip looks like it's in good shape...perhaps a bit of chrome polish might give you the result you're after.

On another note, I'd remove the rub strip while you're at it.

The chrome tip on my 924 is actually flaking off in a few spots, it has seen better days. I really like how clean yours looks. I might remove the rub strips after all.
I see that you do not have the round side reflectors on yours. It this a USA only requirement?

Yes, the round lights/reflectors are USA only, as are the bumpers and driving lights you can see in the pic above ^

Careful removing the trim. You don't want to leave a shadow behind, whether glue or nice sparkly new RED paint.

I found it on Craiglist in Long Island NY. I got it for $4,500. The owner had it advertised for a while and nobody wanted to pay his asking price- $4,500 firm. Everybody kept offering him $2,000. I handed over $4,500 without question.

Here are some updated pics with a new muffler tip, painted rims and polished and waxed.

A time capsule. Very nice. That is a wow car. Wow!

Any little old lady history? A collector or an old VW dealer or something. Every car has a story.

The previous owner was a doctor with a collection of cars. He had so many cars that he only drove each one once a month- if that. He actually had a hard time getting rid of the 924S for $4,500...until I came along. For me, it is without a doubt the best car Porsche made for that period. Yes, even better than the 911. It has it all; looks, handling and affordability- all in one package.

The 924 was my first car! I had an '82. I recently found one with 2,000 orig miles on the clock.
Sadly, a retailer got his hands on it before I did.
The 924 will always have a place in my heart, but even back then, I must admit I longed for the fender flaring look of the 944.
