I have an 87 924s. Starter will not turn over. Control Voltage drops to 2 v when key turned. With wire off, 12.7. Car runs great when push stared. Put a 55 watt light as a load on control wire with it off. Voltage stayed at 12.7. Any help appreciated.

With only that information, it appears that the starter is failing because there is either a resistive cable from battery to starter, an internal short or shorted winding, or mechanically locked up.

Since a slightly more than 4 amp load did not affect the battery voltage at the "control wire" (no idea where that is) you need to test the battery voltage with a heavy load at the starter battery connection to find out if the cable is resistive. If the voltage is low without engaging the starter, then the cable is resistive. If the voltage is good, then the starter is bad.

Thanks a million. Ground cable split and corroded in the middle. Both ends were clean. Replaced and all is well. Thanks again!

Glad to hear you got it working.

Now go drive it like you stole it!
